The Sip That Changed Everything

It began on a late-night arrival in Zambia.

Tired from travel, Lesley Leonard Kolf was welcomed by a local host with warm bread, spiced cakes, and a steaming cup of coffee unlike any he had ever tasted.

“This,” the host said quietly,

“is not just coffee. This is gold. You must grow Uganda’s coffee.”

In that moment, something shifted.

The cup carried more than flavor, it carried identity, royalty, responsibility.

Kolf returned to Uganda’s hills. Met women farmers whose hands shaped harvests and futures. An elder once told him:

“Coffee is our daughter. Our dowry. Our strength.”

That evening was not a tasting.

It was a calling.
